TechEd Community hot news: Mark Finnern of SAP can play a mean 100K Euros for food due to 2.5 million SDN/BPX points! 12:37 PM

Going to some great BPX Community Day sessions today...if I don't learn something new on SAP skills today there is something wrong with me. 1:06 PM

Great BPX day sessions today: learned some useful things about SAP tools to learn and SAP/BPX skills to master. 8:20 PM

"Imagine a world....where every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all knowledge." Wikipedia vision...pretty cool 9:02 PM

TechEd Wikipedia keynote: "people wonder where the big building is with hundreds of doesn't exist." 9:06 PM

Wikipedia business have: transparency, community, quality, and privacy, who have web 2.0 read/write site instead of read only 9:27 PM

Wikipedia keynote lesson: "design benevolence" - empower users to enforce rules and improve site, or search listings, as in "Wikia search." 9:35 PM

Wish Jimmy Wales had talked about how he thinks he can monetize Wikia search, which is a different challenge than Wikipedia faces as a .org 9:38 PM

Getting ready for SAP TechEd Monday - hoping to dig out info to share on SAP skills trends from execs, partners, and free thinkers! 12:30 PM

Off to press executive Q & A...hoping to twitter during the session if the spotty wireless holds up.... 12:55 PM

Want to know why SAP invests in SDN? Yusuf says a whopping 52% of the latest Enhancement pack came from Enterprise Services community. 1:37 PM

Tried to ask Zia a tough question about BPX skills hype but he wasn't at all phased...he says BPX skills focus is driven by customer demand. 1:59 PM

John Schwarz said that BO's predictive technologies could have prevented the sub-prime mortgage crisis. To be fair, he seemed to be kidding. 3:20 PM

Great thing about TechEd 2008: no one has come up to me yet and used the "wanky phrase" 'BobJ' in conversation. 3:30 PM

Three deep dives later, not much left, but great content this afternoon. About to interview Arnold Jung re: SAP BPX Certification. 8:22 PM

During mentor mtg today, Zia Yusuf requested quarterly "top ten lists" from the mentors on our best ideas for SAP. Look forward to helping. 8:24 PM

I'm going to ask Arnold Jung of SAP about the inclusion of IDS Tools in the BPX for BPM certification...look forward to answer, will relay. 8:25 PM

September 10, 2008

Asked Arnold Jung re: SAP pushing IDS stuff in BPX certification - no definitive info in terms of how much emphasis there is...will pursue. 11:19 AM

Today's TechEd mission: spend more time in Clubhouse and Ex. Hall digging out cool trends and peeps. Clubhouse sessions should be fruitful. 11:34 AM

September 11, 2008

Another day of TechEd subversion coming up with my "geek with a tie" routine. Hope to hit some clubhouse content sessions: Java, ABAP, BPM. 09:51 AM

Planning my "TechEd in Review" podcast series...have some good guests lined up...will let it be a surprise. :) 10:59 AM

Good content sessions again today, making strides in my understanding of NetWeaver BPM (finally) - will ship with NetWeaver 7.1.1. 5:38 PM

September 12, 2008

One TechEd highlight: SAP's Ann Rosenberg lecturing a big room of customers on BPM, in a way few could get away with. "A" for honesty. 2:36 PM

One benefit of five days of deep dives: I may finally (vaguely) understand the difference between the IDS Toolkit and NetWeaver BPM. 2:40 PM

Example of Rosenberg honesty: "Maybe this is bad news for you, but this is just the way it is." Almost fell off chair. LMAO as the kids say. 2:46 PM

NetWeaver BPM release: ships with NetWeaver 7.1.1. "Fast track to ramp up program planned as of December 2008." Latest from Walldorf. 2:51 PM

My biggest honor of TechEd: Amir Blich of SDN flips me an "SDN Ubergeek" cap on his way out...will wear with pride! 2:58 PM

Leaving Vegas with @crystal reports - awesome week - great to see many of you...blogs and podcasts will kick in next week, lots to share! 3:05 PM

September 15, 2008

SAP skills buzz at TechEd boils down to BPM and, should I use the phrase, "BobJ." Key question: Are SAP customers as eager for both as SAP? 11:15 AM

September 17, 2008

"Jon, you are definitely spot on with your analysis of the SAP market. I've been using your websites for over five years now. Instead of buying all the SAP books, I use your stuff to catch up with what's new in the ever-increasing SAP market." - Mark Reader Feedback

"I've kept up with your site for a long time and your articles via and elsewhere. I just realized a few months ago that you were also the author of the first SAP Consulting book that I read when I decided to take the leap from working at a Utility company to becoming an SAP Consultant. The SAP Consultant Handbook is a staple for any SAP consultant, new or experienced. I just wanted to thank you for the quality work."

- J. Michael Peace, Independent SAP Consultant -
